Sanctuary the Heart of Our Doctrine-No. I

Sanctuary the Heart of Our Doctrine-No. I

Acquainting new believers with the special doctrines of our message.

By DOROTHY WHITNEY CONKLIN, Bible Instructor, Southern New England Conference

Bible instructors must establish new believers in the special doctrines of our message. The two outstanding needs in this respect are a knowledge of the subjects of the sanctuary and the Spirit of Prophecy. Mrs. Conklin stresses these features in the series which follows. These lessons may be used from week to week to clinch the various doctrines as taught through the sanctuary truth. They might be used as a second series of Bible readings which are intended to thoroughly ground new Sabbathkeepers. --L. C. K.

"The subject of the sanctuary and the investigative judgment should be clearly understood by the people of God. All need a knowledge for themselves of the position and work of their great High Priest. Otherwise, it will be impossible for them to exercise the faith which is essential at this time, or to occupy the position which God designs them to fill. . . . All who have received the light upon these subjects are to bear testimony of the great truths which God has committed to them. The sanctuary in heaven is the very center of Christ's work in behalf of men. . . . It is of the utmost importance that all should thoroughly investigate these subjects, and be able to give an answer to every one that asketh them a reason of the hope that is in them." -The Great Controversy, PP. 488, 480.

"The great plan of redemption, as revealed in the closing work for these last days, should receive close examination. The scenes connected with the sanctuary above should make such an impression upon the minds and hearts of all that they may be able to impress others. All need to•become more intelligent in regard to the work of the atonement, which is going on in the sanctuary above. When this grand truth is seen and understood, those who hold it will work in harmony with Christ to prepare a people to stand in the great day of God, and their efforts will be successful."-Testimonies, vol- 5, p. 575.

It was called show-bread, or 'bread of the presence' because it was ever before the face of the Lord. It was an acknowledgment of man's dependence upon God for both temporal and spiritual food, and that it is received only through the mediation of Christ. . .
